Class 62's First Global Twitter Discussion

On November 10, @class62siwak will be hosting its first global twitter discussion as part of our work on Hana's Suitcase. We are interested in hearing from anyone with thoughts on war, peace and the holocaust. We'd especially like to hear from veterans from both sides, survivors from both sides, refugees and those who stayed home while loved ones left. The children are curious to hear from children in Germany today. They realize that the country that exists now is not the Germany of WWII and would like to know
what life is like there.

We will also be creating a google map for the day. Contributors to the discussion can pin their location on our map so that we can see our global community. The discussion will use the hashtag #hana62. We really hope you can join us! You may contribute throughout the day.

My grade 6 students have been reading the fabulous book, Hana's Suitcase about a young Jewish girl during WWII. The book has captivated them and led to lengthy discussions and questions.  They have been writing, blogging and creating Animoto digital media presentations which will be uploaded shortly. Here's a link to one of my student's blogs. It includes her practice Animoto, but not her final creation.

  1. What a wonderful idea!!! I'll try to check in remotely as I'll be at a conference that day (and presenting in the evening). I can't wait to hear how it goes :)
