When a Student Just "Gets" It

You know those moments in teaching ... where you go ... wow ... this student gets it. She's figured it out. Well it happened just now.

My 7's are engaged in an inquiry around oil exploration and claiming of territory in the Arctic. Details are here:http://heidisiwak.blogspot.com/p/class-72.html

One of my students, Emma, approached me today and said that she would like to speak with someone in Russia to hear first hand their point of view on the current situation. I was thrilled. She understands the power of Social Media. She gets it. When I went on to twitter this evening, I had an invitation to follow her.

These are the words in her twitter profile: Documenting my work and using social media to help me
with my work.

But here's the clincher. Look how she's using social media!

Her goal is to speak directly with a member of the Russian Government about their point of view on oil in the Arctic. Can anyone help her ?
