This is Cool

This has nothing to do with my classroom, but ... oh well ... this is cool.

One of the benefits (or drive you up the wall crazy) of having a techy spouse is that our  TV viewing system changes monthly. Here's the latest.  He's converted our wii into a media center.

1. Create an account at Orb.com   Orb allows you to access internet streamed media such as internet TV, You Tube, internet radio from anywhere in the globe ...

2. Once you've created your account, download the software onto your PC. Leave it running in the background.

3. Set up the wii  by buying a wii network card for $20 at Best Buy for example.

4. Connect your wii to your home network by plugging the network cable from the wii to the home router.

5. Boot up your wii.

6. From the wii menu, open up the internet channel.

7. This opens the Opera Browser.

8. Select favorites.

9. Select Google.

10. Do a search for myorb

11. From the search select my.orb.com

12. Log in using your previously created Orb account.

13. This will display the Orb menu:
            TV/Webcams
             Audio
              Video
             Photo
            File Browser
           Games etc.

14. Choose Web tv. Then internet tv.

15. Use the search feature to find your favourite channel from around the world. ex:  BBC

16. This works best with high speed internet.

17. The wii relies on the home PC to stream the media.

18. Total cost: $20.00

Right now we're watching BBC from the Channel Islands (Jersey)

Next month, I'll have to learn it all again.
