Production and Privacy

A digital revolution is underway in our classrooms. Social Media and etools for collaboration are connecting learners globally. Students are conducting learning in publicly visible, digitally connected spaces.  Teachers and students are publicly documenting learning and co-creating digital footprints. Fascinating and compelling projects are being shared so all can learn.  At the same time corporations through digital collaborative tools and educational partnerships are gaining unprecedented access to information about learners and learning. Who owns this information? How do we protect the privacy of learners?  What controls should students have over the digital footprint they are asked to create in our schools? Who profits from our students’ work? What do educators need to be thinking about as we create our globally connected classrooms?
